SET Explores India’s Challenges, Optimism for the Future

Beyond the U.S., Blackstone’s Smart Energy Tracker continues to explore energy markets across the globe. In November of 2015, the Smart Energy Tracker conducted a study of Indian electricity consumers. The study focused on key issues affecting daily life across India, including electricity supply and value, opinions on the electricity market, key challenges facing the sector, and opinions on how the country’s energy market will evolve.

Results of the study show an Indian market struggling with issues like frequent power outages and a lack of trust for electricity officials, but also a market with optimism for the future. A majority of Indians believe their electricity supply will become more reliable within the next year. Indians also recognize the importance of energy, with the vast majority viewing the sector as very important to the country’s overall economy. Renewable energy is also favored by a majority of Indians, although more traditional sources, like coal and nuclear power, still carry support.

Below you’ll find an overview of data collected by the Smart Energy Tracker study displayed using Blackstone’s innovative dashboard platform.
